Sustainable Development, Sustainable Tourism and Sustainable Livelihoods

April 1, 2020 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

FREE

Don’t miss your chance to hear Professor Geoffrey Wall, Distinguished Professor Emeritus at the University of Waterloo speak about sustainable development, sustainable tourism and sustainable livelihoods. Professor Wall is a prolific writer and researcher who has pioneered research on tourism and climate change and valued for his work on ecotourism and tourism planning.

While widely accepted and enshrined in legislation and policy at multiple scales, sustainable development is a slippery concept that is difficult to work with. Sustainable tourism is too narrow to embrace the complexities of sustainability which is inherently multi-sectoral. A sustainable livelihoods approach offers a pragmatic way forward. Join us to learn more about a sustainable livelihoods approach to development that will be described, justified and illustrated through tourism cases.
