Webinar: Climate Change and Water: Is 2020 the Pivotal Year?

February 12, 2020 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

$25

Ongoing, accelerating, and uncertain climate change impacts have been driving fundamental shifts in how we define the sustainability of water resources in the US and globally. Here, we will discuss some of the emerging trends around resilient water management and policy and how 2020 may prove to be a transformative year to mainstream new concepts through infrastructure, governance, finance, and ecosystems.

Speaker: John H. Matthews, Executive Director, Alliance for Global Water Adaptation
John H. Matthews is the Executive Director and co-founder of the Alliance for Global Water Adaptation (http://alliance4water.org; http://AGWAGuide.org; AGWA). Since 2003, he has integrated technical and policy approaches for water and climate resilience over five continents and more than 30 countries. Under his leadership, the AGWA network directly advises many national governments, corporations, the European Union, and key financial institutions on water-related climate risks, while AGWA has also become the official voice of the water community in the UNFCCC. In 2018 alone, AGWA advised more than 100 countries on their national adaptation plans. His scientific work has appeared in Science, Nature Climate Change, the PLoS family, and many other peer-review journals. Recent book-length publications on water and climate change topics have been commissioned by UN Water, the Asian Development Bank, the Global Commission on Adaptation, The Nature Conservancy, and the World Bank.
